Weekend Escape to Platanias :

Weekend escape snapshots
Minoa≠Manoa
After becoming sick and tired of our beautiful and serene surroundings in Agios Onoufrios, Pamela and I packed up the grocery-getter and headed south for the weekend. Our mission was to find a nice hotel and spend the first days of April lounging around, doing nothing.

Mission complete.

We stayed at the Minoa Palace Resort Hotel and we were treated like semi-royalty. From check-in to check-out, our experience at this resort was almost reflective of it's five-star rating. Everything was clean. The staff were nice, courteous and helpful. They jumped at every chance to serve us. Plus, everything looked cool and we felt good about being there.

The minor inconvenience of €200 per night (full board, off season) was worth it. You could spend a lot more and get a lot less. A few details need to be tended to before the tourist season arrives. But it's the off-season, and we considered ourselves warm-up guests.

Minoa Palace Resort Hotel (5.0)

Note: the Minoa is 300 meters from central Platanias. More images are on the way.

Concrete : Pamela combines with concrete to make a beautiful picture. This roadway would be full of cars were it not for the lack of early April reservations.

Disaronno : I don't drink Disaronno, but if I did, I would insist it looked like the one served up at The Minoa Palace Resort Hotel bar.

Reflection :

Reflective surface : There is no reason for this image. I accidentally pushed the shutter button. It is a picture of my sunglasses on a table at a fast food restaurant in Platanias. Plus you can see a partial reflection of Pamela, a 500ml Amstel™, my right arm and a palm tree in the reflection from my sunglasses.

Transport : Taxi's come and go, but the busses are always there. Platanias and Chania are very well connected via coach.

The Sign :

Exaggerated movements : Unless you're a roadsign, walking like this will get you nowhere with the transvestites in Platanias.

There are no transvestites in Platanias. That was a joke.

Seriously: there are no transvestites here. Please stop wondering if there are transvestites in Platanias.

Umbrella off-season :

Slim Shade : Umbrellas are a pretty old invention. They work pretty hard in the summer so they deserve a good break in the fall, winter and spring.
