Love=Love to create new parts of the site!
When a guy places images of 2006 Crete beach activity onto the internet via a digital camera he bought at a store in Hawaii in 2004, rumors are bound to be made.
>> not even worth it

Minoa≠Manoa
After becoming sick and tired of our beautiful and serene surroundings in Agios Onoufrios, Pamela and I packed up the grocery-getter and headed south for the weekend. Our mission was to find a nice hotel and spend the first days of April lounging around, doing nothing. Mission complete.

Solar eclipse=very cool
It wasn't a total eclipse, but the 85 percent of the sun briefly blocked out by moon today at lunchtime was enough to generate 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the crowd of people watching through two telescopes near my place of employment here on the Akrotiri Peninsula of western Crete. All three of the photos were shot through a co-worker's , via an mounted on a . The two filters combined to allow a narrow wavelength of the 'red' light through to the eyepiece. If you look closely, you can see little solar flares on the surface of the sun.

Perle Hotel=Very nice
Here are a coule of snapshots from our stay at the Perle Hotel and Spa located in Sfakia, Crete (8 km form the airport; 14 km from Chania). The hotel has more of a welcoming atmosphere than you might typically expect from a five-star establishment.

Cloud formations were a rare commodity this week. However, the camera was on standby to catch this edition of Chania Real Photos. Plus the Flaming Lips new album totally rocks.

Search=Chania real photos
In response to a Toluca Lake, California visitor who came to this site via a Google search titled "chania real photos," we grabbed a camera and drove down to Crete's most beautiful city (a.k.a. Chania) and snapped a couple of photos. . . real photos. Real photo searchers can rest assured that ChaniaBeachNews.com provides top quality, dolphin safe and drug-free real photos.

Beach=ready
Beach time isn't far off, but it's not here yet. If you don't live in Chania, then you don't understand what a strange feeling it is to go to Kalathas beach and see it empty, almost strugling for the lack of attention. It's a beautiful beach, but it's a lonely beauty in the winter.

Weather=bad
A perfect remedy for a day of cold and nasty weather is to look at a set of summer pictures shot by new ChaniaBeachNews contributor Kent VonKampen.

Olives=Income
It's olive harvest season here in beautiful western Crete. The hills are alive with the sounds of farmers and workers beating and shaking olive trees. We found one grove near Chania still untouched, and bring you these images of soon-to-be-harvested olives. (All images are 640x480 px).

>> Road through the grove and to the goats
Coming soon: . Dozens of cretan goats were nice enough to hang around for a photo shoot, and we'll bring you those images next update. We're also planning to go to one of the most beautiful monastaries in Crete this weekend. Stay tuned for images and video from that trip.

If you ever want to enlighten yourself about Crete in a very sleek and web-based manner, head over to Interkriti. The site's motto is 'Your Gateway to Crete.' That's a little modest considering I based my entire move on the information I gleaned there. That site is eleven stars out of five ( reference).

Retsina=good
Retsina is an alchoholic beverage widely available in Chania. It tastes great with a plate of lemon-spritzed calamari (or anything else really). I've provided an image of three popular brands for you.
>> Retsina in the garden
Here are some images of an winter sunset in Chania. The images were taken from the balcony of the popular local taverna called . Pamela was nice enough to model for me. All images are 1024x768 px.
